✧ I witnessed Ali in al-Rahaba adjuring the people: 'I adjure by God whoever heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say on the day of Ghadir Khumm: Whoever's mawla I am, Ali is his mawla, to stand and testify.' Abd al-Rahman said: Twelve Badris stood, as if I could see one of them, and they said: 'We testify that we heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say on the day of Ghadir Khumm: Am I not more worthy of the Muslims than their own selves, and my wives are their mothers? We said: Yes indeed, O Messenger of God. He said: So whoever's mawla I am, Ali is his mawla. O God, befriend whoever befriends him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him.'
