machine translationʿĀṣim b. Bahdalah narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Ḥammād b. Zayd narrated it from ʿĀṣim, from Zirr b. Ḥubaysh, from Abū Juḥayfah. Likewise it was said from Ḥajjāj b. Minhāl, from Ḥammād b. Salamah, but that is not sound (lā yaṣiḥḥ). Zāʾidah, Jarīr b. Ḥāzim, Sharīk and Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh differed from him, and narrated it from ʿĀṣim, from Abū Juḥayfah, without mentioning Zirr in it. Naṣr b. Ṭarīf and Ṣāliḥ b. Mūsā al-Ṭalḥī narrated it from ʿĀṣim, from Zirr, from ʿAlī, and they did not mention Abū Juḥayfah in it. Likewise Dāwūd b. al-Zibriqān narrated it from Shuʿbah, from ʿĀṣim. Zayd b. Yaḥyā differed from him and narrated it from Shuʿbah, from ʿĀṣim, from Abū Juḥayfah. The correct (ṣawāb) version is the statement of those who said: from ʿĀṣim, from Abū Juḥayfah. Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī also narrated it from Abū Juḥayfah, and there is disagreement about Abū Isḥāq. Al-Aʿmash, Abū al-Ḍuḥā, ʿAwn b. Abī Juḥayfah, al-Ḥakam and Salamah b. Kuhayl narrated it from Abū Juḥayfah, and it is sound (ṣaḥīḥ) from Abū Juḥayfah. As for the disagreement about Abū Isḥāq, a group narrated it, among them Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, ʿUmar al-Ṭanāfisī, Misʿar, Sufyān, Fiṭr and Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq; they said: from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah, from ʿAlī. Ḥajjāj b. Muḥammad and Shabābah said: from Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq, from his father, from Abū Juḥayfah and ʿAbd Khayr, and it is sound (ṣaḥīḥ) from both of them. A group of the students of Abū Isḥāq also narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAbd Khayr alone, and both statements are preserved (maḥfūẓ) from Abū Isḥāq.
