حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الْأَصَمِّ قَالَ
كُنْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَعَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَمَرَّتْ بِهِمَا جِنَازَةٌ فَقَامَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَلَمْ يَقُمْ مَرْوَانُ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّتْ بِهِ جِنَازَةٌ فَقَامَ، فَقَامَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ مَرْوَانُ.

✧ I was in Madinah with Marwan b. al-Hakam and Abu Hurayrah when a funeral procession passed by them. Abu Hurayrah stood up, but Marwan did not. Abu Hurayrah said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a funeral procession passed by him, and he stood up.' At that, Marwan stood up.
