حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَسَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ

كَانَ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَهْلِهِ سَأَلَ عَنْهُ، فَإِنْ قِيلَ هَدِيَّةٌ أَكَلَ، وَإِنْ قِيلَ صَدَقَةٌ قَالَ: كُلُوا وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ.

✧ Abu Huraira said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When food that does not belong to his family is brought to him, he would ask about it. If he was told that it was a gift, he would eat it. And if he was told that it was charity, he would say, 'Eat and do not eat.'"
