حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَقَالَ

وَكَانَ نَازِلًا عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ: فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةً لَيْسَتْ بِالْخَفِيفَةِ وَلَا بِالطَّوِيلَةِ، قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ: نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلَاةِ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَهَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي، قَالَ: وَمَا أَنْكَرْتَ مِنْ صَلَاتِي ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: خَيْرًا، أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَأَوْجَزَ.

Translation

✧ He was staying with Abu Hurayrah in Madinah. He said: I saw him praying a prayer that was neither light nor long. Isma'il said: similar to the prayer of Qays b. Abi Hazim. He said: I said to Abu Hurayrah, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray like this?" He said, "What did you disapprove of in my prayer?" He said: I said, "Good; I wanted to ask you." He said: He said, "Yes, and he was brief."
