machine translationAl-Shaʿbī narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Yūsuf b. Asbāṭ narrated it from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from al-Shaʿbī, from Masrūq, from ʿAlī. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī and others contradicted him and narrated it from al-Thawrī, from Ismāʿīl, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlī, without mentioning anyone between them. Likewise Abū Shihāb al-Ḥannāṭ, ʿUbaydullāh al-Ashjaʿī, ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs, Ibn ʿUyaynah and Dāwūd b. al-Zibriqān narrated it from Ismāʿīl, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlī. Huraym b. Sufyān narrated it from Ismāʿīl, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlī, and added wordings in it that no one else brought. It was also said, from Huraym, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlī, with a wording other than this. Ādam b. Abī Iyās said, from Qays, from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from Abū ʿAmr al-Shaybānī, from ʿAlī. Bayān b. Bishr, Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī and Mujālid narrated it from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlī. Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb al-Bajalī contradicted them and narrated it from al-Shaʿbī, from Abū Juḥayfah, from ʿAlī. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version among these is the statement of those who narrated it as a mursal report from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlī.
