Show the chain

✧ The strong believer is better, more virtuous, and more beloved to Allah [mighty and sublime be He] than the weak believer, though there is good in each. Strive for what benefits you, and do not be helpless. If something overwhelms you, then say: “Allah has decreed, and what He wills He does.” Beware of “if only,” for “if only” opens the way for Satan.

machine translationThis route—ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs, from Rabīʿah b. ʿUthmān, who said: from Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā b. Ḥabbān, from al-Aʿraj—is the soundest of the routes of this hadith.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 8867
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationMuḥammad b. ʿAjlān narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ibn ʿAjlān, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah; Naʿīm b. Yaʿqūb said that from him. Al-Ḥumaydī disagreed with him and narrated it from him, from Ibn ʿAjlān, from a man of the family of Abū Rabīʿah, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah. Ibn al-Mubārak narrated it from Ibn ʿAjlān, from Rabīʿah, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, and he is Rabīʿah b. ʿUthmān. ʿAbdullāh b. Idrīs narrated it, preserving its chain precisely and excellently: from Rabīʿah b. ʿUthmān, from Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā b. Ḥabbān, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, and this is the correct one.
