حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَلَا يَدْعُو بِهِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ وَثِقَ بِعَمَلِهِ، فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ مَاتَ أَحَدُكُمُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَزِيدُ الْمُؤْمِنَ عُمُرُهُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Ḥasan
  2. Ibn Lahīʿah
  3. Abū Yūnus
  4. Abū Hurayrah
  5. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ None of you should wish for death or pray for it before it comes, unless he is confident of his deeds. For when one of you dies, his deeds come to an end, and a believer's life only increases him in good.
