حَدَّثَنَا فَزَارَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ فِيمَا مَضَى قَبْلَكُمْ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ نَاسٌ يُحَدَّثُونَ، وَإِنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ فِي أُمَّتِي هَذِهِ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ فَإِنَّهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ".

Ismāʿīl narrated it from Yaḥyā al-Qaṭṭān and made a grave error regarding its chain, for he narrated it from Yaḥyā, from Muḥammad b. ʿAmr, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, whereas Yaḥyā only narrated it from Ibn ʿAjlān, from Saʿd, from Abū Salamah, from ʿĀʾishah, may God be pleased with her.
