حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَيْئًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ، فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي مِكْتَلٍ لَنَا فَعَلَّقْنَاهُ فِي سَقْفِ الْبَيْتِ، فَلَمْ نَزَلْ نَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى كَانَ آخِرُهُ أَصَابَهُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ حَيْثُ أَغَارُوا عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ.

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ gave me some dates, so I put them in a small basket of ours, and we hung it from the ceiling of the house. We kept eating from it until its last portion was taken by the people of Syria when they raided Madinah.
