- Rasūl Allāh ﷺ
✧ A prophet among the prophets went on a military expedition and said to his people: 'No man who has contracted a marriage with a woman and intends to consummate it but has not yet done so should follow me. Nor one who has built a house but has not yet raised its roof. Nor one who has bought sheep or pregnant camels and is waiting for their offspring.' He went on the expedition and approached the town at the time of the afternoon prayer or close to it. He said to the sun: 'You are commanded and I am commanded. O Allah, hold it back for me a while.' So it was held back for him until Allah granted him victory. They gathered the spoils, and fire came to consume them, but it refused to eat them. He said: 'There is misappropriation among you. Let one man from every tribe pledge allegiance to me.' They pledged allegiance, and the hand of one man clung to his hand. He said: 'The misappropriation is among you. Let your tribe pledge allegiance to me.' His tribe pledged allegiance, and the hands of two or three men clung to his hand. He said: 'The misappropriation is among you. You have misappropriated.' They brought out for him something like the head of a cow made of gold. He said: 'They placed it among the wealth, which was on the open ground, and the fire came and consumed it.' Spoils of war were not made lawful for anyone before us; that is because Allah, Mighty and Majestic, saw our weakness and inability, so He made them good for us.
