✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer one day and left. Then he came back with his head dripping water and led us in prayer again. Then he said: I led you in prayer earlier while I was in a state of major ritual impurity. Whoever experiences what I experienced, or finds a discharge in his stomach, should do as I did.

machine translationI am content for this to be the words of ʿAlī, stopped at him (mawqūf). Ibn Lahīʿah had confused (khalaṭa) his narrations, and as for this hadith, he said once: "ʿAbdullāh b. Hubayrah narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh b. Zurayr, from ʿAlī, from the Prophet ﷺ," and he said another time: "al-Ḥārith b. Yazīd narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh b. Zurayr, from ʿAlī, from the Prophet ﷺ."
