✧ I heard a man asking forgiveness for his parents while they were polytheists. I said, "Does a man ask forgiveness for his parents while they are polytheists?" He said, "Did not Ibrahim ask forgiveness for his father?" I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and it was revealed: 'It is not for the Prophet and those who believe to ask forgiveness for the polytheists'—until His saying—'[when it became clear to him that he was an enemy of God] he disassociated himself from him.' He said, "When he died."
