✧ No servant truly believes until he believes in four things: until he bears witness that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah, sent with the truth; and until he believes in the resurrection after death; and until he believes in the divine decree.

machine translationAl-Dāraquṭnī was asked about it and said: Sharīk, Warqāʾ, Jarīr and ʿAmr b. Qays narrated it from Manṣūr, from Ribʿī, from ʿAlī. Sufyān al-Thawrī, Zāʾidah, Abū al-Aḥwaṣ and Sulaymān al-Taymī contradicted them and narrated it from Manṣūr, from a man of Banū Asad, from ʿAlī, and that is the correct version. I say: The narration of Zāʾidah, and the narration of Abū Nuʿaym and Abū Dāwūd al-Ḥafarī from Sufyān, have already been given, and they did not mention anyone between ʿAlī and Ribʿī. This conflicts with the statement of al-Tirmidhī and the statement of al-Dāraquṭnī. It is possible that Ribʿī heard it from ʿAlī and also heard it from a man who narrated it from him, so that he would narrate it sometimes from ʿAlī and sometimes from a man from him. And Allah knows best.
