حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ وَالثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ ابن عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ

إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ إِلَى شَيْءٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْءٌ فَعَصًا، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَصًا فَلْيَخْطُطْ خَطًّا، ثُمَّ لَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ

Translation

✧ When one of you prays, let him pray toward something. If there is nothing, then a stick; if there is no stick, then let him draw a line, and then whatever passes in front of him will not harm him.
