machine translationAbū al-Zinād narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Mālik b. Anas, Mūsā b. ʿUqbah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq (who is ʿAbbād), and Abū Ayyūb al-Afrīqī narrated it from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah. Ibn ʿUyaynah differed from them and narrated it from Abū al-Zinād, from Mūsā b. Abī ʿUthmān, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah. It seems that both versions are preserved from Abū al-Zinād. Al-Wāqidī claimed that Mālik erred in the chain of this hadith, as he narrated it from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah. But a group of trustworthy (thiqāt) narrators followed him, among them Mūsā b. ʿUqbah and those we mentioned with him.
