حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ: أَكْثَرَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، وَاللهِ لَوْلَا آيَتَانِ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ مَا حَدَّثْتُ حَدِيثًا، ثُمَّ يَتْلُو هَاتَيْنِ الْآيَتَيْنِ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْـزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. al-Zuhrī
  4. al-Aʿraj
  5. Abū Hurayrah

✧ People say, “Abu Hurayrah narrates too much.” By Allah, were it not for two verses in the Book of Allah, I would not have narrated a single hadith. Then he recited these two verses: “Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance…”
