machine translationI heard my father, when Suhayl b. Abī Ṣāliḥ and ʿAbbād b. Abī Ṣāliḥ were mentioned, say: "They are brothers, and I do not know of any other brother of theirs, except what was narrated by Ḥaywah b. Shurayḥ, from Nāfiʿ b. Sulaymān, from Muḥammad b. Abī Ṣāliḥ, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'The imam is a guarantor and the muʾadhdhin is entrusted. O Allah, guide the imams and forgive the muʾadhdhins.' And al-Aʿmash narrates this hadith from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ." I said: "Which of the two is more authentic?" He said: "The hadith of al-Aʿmash, and Nāfiʿ b. Sulaymān is not strong (laysa bi-qawī)." I said: "Is Muḥammad b. Abī Ṣāliḥ the brother of Suhayl and ʿAbbād?" He said: "So they narrate it."
