✧ I went out with Talid b. Kilab al-Laythi until we came to Abdullah b. Amr b. al-As, while he was circumambulating the House with his sandals hanging from his hand. We said to him: Were you present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the Tamimi spoke to him on the day of Hunayn? He said: Yes. A man from Banu Tamim called Dhu al-Khuwaysirah came and stood before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was distributing to the people. He said: O Muhammad, you have seen what you did today. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Yes, and how did you see it? He said: I did not see you act justly. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry, then said: Woe to you! If justice is not with me, then with whom is it? Umar b. al-Khattab said: O Messenger of Allah, shall we not kill him? He said: No, leave him. He will have followers who go so deep into religion that they exit it, as an arrow exits from the game animal. One looks at the arrowhead and finds nothing, then at the shaft and finds nothing, then at the fletching and finds nothing. It has gone ahead of the blood and the dung.
