✧ O Abdullah b. Amr, in how many days do you complete the Quran? He said: I said: In a day and a night. He said: He said to me: Sleep and pray, [pray] and sleep, and recite it in a month. He said: I kept asking for less and he kept reducing it until he said: Recite it in seven nights. My father said: I did not understand, and a word was lost on me. He said: Then he said: I said: I fast and do not break the fast. He said: He said to me: Fast and break the fast, and fast three days every month. I kept asking for less and he kept reducing it until he said: Fast the most beloved fast to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, the fast of Dawud: fast one day and break the fast one day. Abdullah b. Amr said: That I had accepted the concession of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be more beloved to me than having red camels.
