✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered his house and said, "O Abdullah b. Amr, have I not been told that you burden yourself with standing at night and fasting during the day?" He said, "I indeed do that." He said, "It is sufficient for you — and I do not say: do it — to fast three days of every month; a good deed is multiplied tenfold, so it is as though you have fasted the entire time." He said: I became harsher, and it was made harsher upon me. He said: I said, "I find strength beyond that." He said, "It is sufficient for you to fast three days every week." He said: I became harsher, and it was made harsher upon me, so I said, "I find strength in myself." The Prophet ﷺ said, "The most just fast in the sight of Allah is the fast of Dawud, half of the time." Then he said, "Your soul has a right over you, and your family has a right over you." He said: Abdullah used to keep that fast, until old age and weakness overtook him, and he would say, "To have accepted the concession of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be dearer to me than my family and wealth."
