حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ
اسْتَأْذَنَ ابْنُ جُرْمُوزٍ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ، وَأَنَا عِنْدَهُ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: بَشِّرْ قَاتِلَ ابْنِ صَفِيَّةَ بِالنَّارِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيًّا، وَحَوَارِيَّ الزُّبَيْرُ
Translation

Ibn Jurmooz asked for permission to enter upon ʿAlī when I was with him, ‘Alَī said: Give the killer of Ibn Ṣafiyyah the tidings of Hellfire. Then ʿAlī said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Every Prophet has a disciple, and my disciple is al-Zubayr." ʿAbdullāh said: my father said: I heard Sufyān say: A disciple is a supporter.
