machine translationThis is a hadith narrated by Sālim b. Abī Ḥafṣah and Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ from ʿAbdullāh b. Mulayl. There is disagreement about the narration from Kathīr. It was narrated by Faṭr b. Khalīfah, Qays b. al-Rabīʿ, Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Masʿūdī (his name is ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abī ʿUbaydah b. ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd), Ibn ʿUyaynah, Jaʿfar al-Aḥmar, Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt and Naṣīr b. Abī al-Ashʿath, from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ, from ʿAbdullāh b. Mulayl. Abū Ghaylān Saʿd b. Ṭālib differed from them, and narrated it from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ, from Yaḥyā b. Umm al-Ṭawīl al-Thumālī, from ʿAbdullāh b. Mulayl, from ʿAlī, and he traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ. Faṭr b. Khalīfah followed him in raising it, from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ, from Abū Idrīs, from al-Musayyab b. Najabah, from ʿAlī. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is the hadith of ʿAbdullāh b. Mulayl.
