✧ I asked ‘Abdullāh b. ‘Amr b. al-‘Āṣ, saying, “We are in a land where there is no dinar or dirham; we only barter with camels and sheep on credit. What do you think about that?” He said, “You have come to an expert. The Messenger of God ﷺ equipped an army using camels from the zakāh camels until they were exhausted, and some people remained. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, ‘Buy camels for us with young she-camels from the zakāh camels when they come, so that we may pay them back.’ So I bought a camel for two or three young she-camels until I finished, and the Messenger of God ﷺ paid that back from the zakāh camels.”
