✧ Umar b. al-Khattab gifted a Bukhti she-camel for which he was offered three hundred dinars. He came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, I gifted a Bukhti she-camel of mine for which I was offered three hundred dinars; should I slaughter it or buy budn (sacrificial camels) with its price?” He said: “No, rather slaughter it itself.”

machine translationAl-Bukhārī said: "No hearing (samāʿ) from Sālim is known for Jahm." Al-Mundhirī transmitted this from him, and ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq followed him, saying in his Aḥkām: "No hearing from Sālim is known for him." Ibn al-Qaṭṭān said: "Jahm is of unknown condition (majhūl al-ḥāl); nobody is known to have narrated from him except Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥīm Khālid b. Abī Yazīd," and nothing more than that. Al-Bukhārī and Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him, and al-Dhahabī followed them, saying in al-Mīzān: "There is obscurity (jahālah) in him," and he said in al-Ḍuʿafāʾ: "Unknown (majhūl)."
