✧ The Prophet ﷺ performed tamattu‘ during the Farewell Hajj, combining ‘umrah with Hajj. He drove a sacrificial animal, leading it with him from Dhul-Hulayfah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began by entering ihram for ‘umrah, then entered ihram for Hajj. The people also performed tamattu‘ with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, combining ‘umrah with Hajj. Some of the people drove sacrificial animals and led them, and some did not. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Makkah, he said to the people: "Whoever among you has driven a sacrificial animal may not exit ihram from anything forbidden to him until he completes his Hajj. Whoever among you has not driven a sacrificial animal should circumambulate the House and run between Safa and Marwah, shorten his hair, and exit ihram. Then he should enter ihram for Hajj and sacrifice. Whoever cannot find a sacrificial animal should fast three days during Hajj and seven when he returns to his family." When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Makkah, he first touched the Corner, then jogged for three circuits of the seven and walked for four circuits. Then, after completing his circumambulation of the House, he prayed two rak‘ahs at the Maqam and said salam. Then he went to Safa and did sa‘i between Safa and Marwah. He did not exit ihram from anything forbidden to him until he completed his Hajj and sacrificed his animal on the Day of Sacrifice, then performed the ifadah circumambulation of the House and exited ihram from everything. Those among the people who had driven and led sacrificial animals did the same as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
