حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

إِنَّ بِلَالًا يُنَادِي بِلَيْلٍ، فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى تَسْمَعُوا تَأْذِينَ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ قَالَ: وَكَانَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ رَجُلًا أَعْمَى لَا يُبْصِرُ، لَا يُؤَذِّنُ حَتَّى يَقُولَ النَّاسُ: أَذِّنْ قَدْ أَصْبَحْتَ

Translation

✧ Bilal gives the call at night, so eat and drink until you hear the call of Ibn Umm Maktum. He said: Ibn Umm Maktum was a blind man who could not see, and he would not give the call until people said to him: 'Give the call, dawn has come.'
