حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ: أَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ. قَالَ: انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ، وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ. وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: هُمَا رَيْحَانَتَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا

Translation

✧ I was sitting with Ibn Umar when a man came to him asking about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn Umar said to him: 'From where are you?' He said: 'I am from the people of Iraq.' He said: 'Look at this one, he asks me about the blood of mosquitoes while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "They are my two fragrant flowers in this world."'
