حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ جَارِيَةً تُعْتِقُهَا. قَالَ أَهْلُهَا: نَبِيعُكِ عَلَى أَنَّ وَلَاءَهَا لَنَا، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: لَا يَمْنَعْكِ ذَلِكَ، فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ

Translation

✧ Aisha wanted to buy a slave girl to set her free. Her owners said: 'We sell her to you on condition that her wala' is ours.' She mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: 'Do not let that stop you, for the wala' belongs to the one who frees.'
