✧ Muḥārib b. Dithār said to me, 'What did you hear Saʿīd b. Jubayr mention from Ibn ʿAbbās regarding al-Kawthar?' I said, 'I heard him say: Ibn ʿAbbās said, "It is the abundant good."' Muḥārib said, 'Glory be to God! How rarely does a statement escape Ibn ʿAbbās. I heard Ibn ʿUmar say: When "Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar" was revealed, the Messenger of God ﷺ said, "It is a river in Paradise whose two banks are of gold, flowing over pearls and rubies. Its drink is sweeter than honey, whiter than milk, colder than snow, and more fragrant than musk." He said, 'Ibn ʿAbbās spoke the truth: this, by God, is the abundant good.'
