حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا، وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ فَطَعَنَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ فِي إِمْرَتِهِ. فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنْ تَطْعَنُوا فِي إِمْرَتِهِ فَقَدْ تَطْعَنُونَ فِي إِمْرَةِ أَبِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ، وَايْمُ اللهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَخَلِيقًا لِلْإِمَارَةِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ. وَإِنَّ هَذَا لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ بَعْدَهُ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent out an expedition and placed Usāmah b. Zayd in command over them. Some people found fault with his command. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and said: If you find fault with his command, you have found fault with his father's command before him, and by Allah, he was truly worthy of command, and he was among the most beloved of people to me. And this one is among the most beloved of people to me after him.
