✧ Umar saw a striped silk garment being sold at the door of the mosque and said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would buy it and wear it on Friday and for the delegations when they come to you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Only the one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this." Then some garments of that kind were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave Umar one of them. Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have clothed me with it while you said about it what you said?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I did not clothe you with it so that you wear it; I only clothed you with it so that you sell it or clothe someone else with it." He said: So Umar clothed a brother of his from his mother who was a polytheist in Makkah with it.
