حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
رُبَّمَا ذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَسْتَسْقِي، فَمَا يَنْزِلُ حَتَّى يَجِيشَ كُلُّ مِيزَابٍ، وَأَذْكُرُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ: وَأَبْيَضَ يُسْتَسْقَى الْغَمَامُ بِوَجْهِهِ ثِمَالُ الْيَتَامَى عِصْمَةٌ لِلْأَرَامِلِ. وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ

✧ Often I would recall the poet's words while looking at the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the pulpit as he prayed for rain, and he would not descend until every spout was flowing. I recall the poet's words: 'A fair-faced one by whose face rain is sought, a refuge for orphans, a protection for widows.' That is the saying of Abu Talib.
