حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَتَشٍ أَخْبَرَنِي النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ سَلْمَانَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ صَنْعَاءَ قَالَ
كُنَّا بِمَكَّةَ فَجَلَسْنَا إِلَى عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ إِلَى جَنْبِ جِدَارِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَلَمْ نَسْأَلْهُ وَلَمْ يُحَدِّثْنَا، قَالَ: ثُمَّ جَلَسْنَا إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ مِثْلَ مَجْلِسِكُمْ هَذَا، فَلَمْ نَسْأَلْهُ وَلَمْ يُحَدِّثْنَا، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَتَكَلَّمُونَ، وَلَا تَذْكُرُونَ اللهَ ؟ قُولُوا: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، بِوَاحِدَةٍ عَشْرًا وَبِعَشْرٍ مِائَةً، مَنْ زَادَ زَادَهُ اللهُ، وَمَنْ سَكَتَ غَفَرَ لَهُ، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَمْسٍ سَمِعْتُهُنَّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالُوا: بَلَى، قَالَ: مَنْ حَالَتْ شَفَاعَتُهُ دُونَ حَدٍّ مِنْ حُدُودِ اللهِ فَهُوَ مُضَادُّ اللهِ فِي أَمْرِهِ، وَمَنْ أَعَانَ عَلَى خُصُومَةٍ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ فَهُوَ مُسْتَظِلٌّ فِي سَخَطِ اللهِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَ، وَمَنْ قَفَا مُؤْمِنًا ( أَوْ مُؤْمِنَةً ) حَبَسَهُ اللهُ فِي رَدْغَةِ الْخَبَالِ عُصَارَةِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ أُخِذَ لِصَاحِبِهِ مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ لَا دِينَارَ ثَمَّ وَلَا دِرْهَمَ، وَرَكْعَتَا الْفَجْرِ حَافِظُوا عَلَيْهِمَا فَإِنَّهُمَا مِنَ الْفَضَائِلِ
Translation

✧ We were in Makkah and we sat with Ata al-Khurasani beside the wall of the mosque, but we did not ask him and he did not narrate to us. He said: Then we sat with Ibn Umar in a gathering like this one of yours, but we did not ask him and he did not narrate to us. He said: Then he said: What is the matter with you that you do not speak and do not remember Allah? Say: Allahu akbar, wa al-hamdu lillah, wa subhan Allah wa bi-hamdihi. With one, ten, and with ten, one hundred. Whoever increases, Allah increases him, and whoever remains silent is forgiven. Shall I inform you of five things I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? They said: Yes. He said: Whoever's intercession comes between a legal punishment from among the legal punishments of Allah, then he is opposing Allah in His command. And whoever assists in a dispute without right, then he remains under the shade of Allah's anger until he desists. And whoever slanders a believing man or a believing woman, Allah will confine him in the mire of khabal, the pus of the people of the Fire. And whoever dies while owing a debt, it will be taken for his creditor from his good deeds; there will be neither dinar nor dirham there. And the two rak'ahs of Fajr: be diligent in them, for they are among the excellences.
