حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ قَالَ عَفَّانُ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ
كُنْتُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فِي النَّجْوَى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ؟ فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُدْنِي الْمُؤْمِنَ فَيَضَعُ عَلَيْهِ كَنَفَهُ وَيَسْتُرُهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَيُقَرِّرُهُ بِذُنُوبِهِ، وَيَقُولُ لَهُ: أَتَعْرِفُ ذَنْبَ كَذَا ؟ أَتَعْرِفُ ذَنْبَ كَذَا ؟ أَتَعْرِفُ ذَنْبَ كَذَا ؟ حَتَّى إِذَا قَرَّرَهُ بِذُنُوبِهِ وَرَأَى فِي نَفْسِهِ أَنَّهُ قَدْ هَلَكَ، قَالَ: فَإِنِّي قَدْ سَتَرْتُهَا عَلَيْكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَإِنِّي أَغْفِرُهَا لَكَ الْيَوْمَ [قَالَ]: ثُمَّ يُعْطَى كِتَابَ حَسَنَاتِهِ، وَأَمَّا الْكُفَّارُ وَالْمُنَافِقُونَ فَيَقُولُ الْأَشْهَادُ: هَؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ أَلا لَعْنَةُ اللهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ.

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying in a confidential conversation on the Day of Resurrection. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Indeed, Allah, the Almighty, brings the believer near and covers him with His screen, concealing him from the people, and firmly establishes his sins, then He says to him, 'Do you recognize this sin? Do you recognize that sin?' He continues to mention his sins until the believer acknowledges all his sins. When Allah has established his sins and the believer sees himself doomed, he says, 'I have concealed them for you in the world, and I forgive them for you today.' Then the believer is given the book of his good deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, the witnesses will say, 'These are the ones who lied against their Lord. Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.'" (Surah Hud 18)
