✧ I was in one of the expeditions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The people fled in a rout, and I was among those who fled. We said: "What shall we do since we have fled from the battle and incurred anger?" Then we said: "If only we could enter Madinah and spend the night." Then we said: "If only we could present ourselves to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; if there is repentance for us, otherwise we will go away." So we came to him before the dawn prayer. He came out and said: "Who are the people?" We said: "We are the fugitives." He said: "No, rather you are the ones who return to fight. I am your refuge, and I am the refuge of the Muslims." He said: "So we came to him until we kissed his hand."
