حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ
أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يُكْرِي أَرْضَهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرَ، وَعُثْمَانَ، وَبَعْضَ عَمَلِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: وَلَوْ شِئْتُ قُلْتُ: عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ فِي آخِرِ إِمَارَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ حَدِيثٌ، فَذَهَبَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ، فَتَرَكَ أَنْ يُكْرِيَهَا، فَكَانَ إِذَا سُئِلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ: زَعَمَ ابْنُ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ.

✧ That Ibn Umar used to lease out his land during the era of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and part of Muawiyah's rule. He said: And if I wished, I could say: during the era of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, until it was in the last part of Muawiyah's rule that a hadith from Rafi b. Khadij reached him, so he went, and I was with him, and asked him about it, and he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade leasing out farms. So he stopped leasing it out, and after that, when he was asked, he would say: Ibn Khadij claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade leasing out farms.
