حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

إِذَا كُنْتُمْ ثَلَاثَةً فَلَا يَتَنَاجَ اثْنَانِ دُونَ وَاحِدٍ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ: فَإِذَا كَانُوا أَرْبَعَةً قَالَ: فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ.

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar
  2. Shuʿbah
  3. Sulaymān
  4. Dhakwān
  5. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar
  6. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ When you are three, let not two converse privately excluding the third. I said to Ibn Umar: What if they are four? He said: Then there is no harm.
