✧ Umar b. al-Khattab brought the Prophet ﷺ a suit of silk brocade and said: O Messenger of Allah, if only you would buy this suit to wear when delegations of people come to you. He said: Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this. Then the Prophet ﷺ was brought three suits, and he sent one suit to Umar, one to Ali, and one to Usamah b. Zayd. Umar came with his suit to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, you sent this to me, and I heard you say about it what you said. He said: I only sent it to you so that you could sell it or cut it into veils for your womenfolk. Ishaq said in his narration: And Usamah came to him wearing the suit, and he said: I did not send it to you to wear it; I only sent it to you to sell it. I do not know whether he said to Usamah: Cut it into veils or not.
