✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say while standing on the steps of the Kaaba, "Praise be to Allah who fulfilled His promise, supported His servant, and defeated the confederates alone. Know that every custom of ignorance is beneath my feet today, except for the black stone and the Station of Ibrahim. Verily, the distance between the two pillars, where one kills with a whip and stone, is considered a hundred camels, forty of which are carrying their offspring."

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. al-Jawzī

machine translationIts chain is confused (muḍṭarib). It is narrated by al-Qāsim b. Rabīʿah, who at one time says: from Yaʿqūb b. Aws; at another: from ʿUqbah b. Aws, from a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ; at another: from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ; and at another: from Ibn ʿAmr.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991
  • Ishbīlī

machine translationThe route of ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr is the sound (ṣaḥīḥ) one, that is, the route of Ibn ʿUmar is weak (ḍaʿīf).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991

machine translationThe hadith of Ibn ʿUmar is sounder (aṣaḥḥ) than the hadith of Ibn ʿAmr.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThis is a hadith about which there is disagreement on the authority of al-Qāsim b. Rabīʿah. It is narrated from him from Ibn ʿUmar, and from him from Ibn ʿAmr. Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl narrated it as a mursal report from al-Qāsim b. Rabīʿah, and Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ said: from al-Qāsim, from ʿUqbah b. Aws, from Ibn ʿUmar. And this is more likely.

  • Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn

machine translationʿAlī b. Zayd is nothing (laysa bi-shayʾ). The ḥadīth is the ḥadīth of Khālid; it is only from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991
  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationAs for the narration of Ibn ʿUmar, it is not authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) because of the weakness of Ibn Judʿān.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991

machine translationAbū Zurʿah said: The ḥadīth of al-Qāsim b. Rabīʿah is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991

machine translationḤammād b. Salamah narrated this ḥadīth in full from Ḥumayd, from al-Qāsim b. Rabīʿah, that the Prophet ﷺ addressed the people on the Day of the Conquest, as a mursal report. This is closer to being correct, and Allah knows best.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 4991
  • Mizzī
