حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

مَثَلُ الْقُرْآنِ إِذَا عَاهَدَ عَلَيْهِ صَاحِبُهُ فَقَرَأَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ لَهُ إِبِلٌ فَإِنْ عَقَلَهَا حَفِظَهَا، وَإِنْ أَطْلَقَ عُقُلَهَا ذَهَبَتْ. فَكَذَلِكَ صَاحِبُ الْقُرْآنِ

Translation

  5. Ibn ʿUmar
  6. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ The likeness of the Qur'an, when its companion commits to it and recites it by night and by day, is like a man who has camels: if he hobbles them, he keeps them, but if he releases their hobbles, they go away. So is the companion of the Qur'an.
