✧ When the Prophet ﷺ returned from Hunayn, Umar asked about a vow he had made in the pre-Islamic era, to observe i'tikaf for a day. He ordered him to fulfill it, and Ibn Umar went ahead of him. He said: He sent with me a slave girl he had obtained on the day of Hunayn. He said: I placed her in one of the houses of the bedouins when I stopped, and suddenly I saw the captives of Hunayn coming out running, saying: "The Messenger of God ﷺ has freed us." He said: Umar said to Abdullah: "Go and release her." He said: So I went and released her.
