حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ أَخْبَرَنِي الثِّقَةُ أَوْ مَنْ لَا أَتَّهِمُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ خَطَبَ إِلَى نَسِيبٍ لَهُ ابْنَتَهُ قَالَ: فَكَانَ هَوَى أُمِّ الْمَرْأَةِ فِي ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَكَانَ هَوَى أَبِيهَا فِي يَتِيمٍ لَهُ. قَالَ: فَزَوَّجَهَا الْأَبُ يَتِيمَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَجَاءَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: آمِرُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي بَنَاتِهِنَّ.

✧ That he proposed to a relative of his for his daughter. He said: The mother of the woman desired Ibn ʿUmar, while her father desired an orphan of his. So the father married her to that orphan of his. Then she came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him, and the Prophet ﷺ said: “Let women have a say regarding their daughters.”
