حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبًا - أَوْ قَالَ: شَقِيصًا لَهُ، أَوْ قَالَ: شِرْكًا لَهُ - فِي عَبْدٍ فَكَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الْمَالِ مَا يَبْلُغُ ثَمَنَهُ بِقِيمَةِ الْعَدْلِ فَهُوَ عَتِيقٌ، وَإِلَّا فَقَدْ عَتَقَ مِنْهُ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Ismāʿīl
  2. Ayyūb
  3. Nāfiʿ
  4. Ibn ʿUmar
  5. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ Whoever frees a share - or he said: a portion belonging to him, or he said: a partnership belonging to him - in a slave, and he has enough wealth to reach the slave's price by fair valuation, then he is completely free. Otherwise, only that share is freed.
