✧ The Jews brought to the Prophet ﷺ a man and a woman from among them who had committed adultery. He said: "What do you find in your Book?" They said: "We blacken their faces and they are disgraced." He said: "You lie. In it is stoning. Bring the Torah and recite it if you are truthful." They brought the Torah and a one-eyed reader of theirs called Ibn Suriya. He recited until he reached a certain place in it and placed his hand over it. He was told: "Raise your hand." He raised his hand, and there it was, shining. He said, or they said: "O Muhammad, indeed in it is stoning, but we used to conceal it among ourselves." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the two of them stoned. He said: "I saw him leaning over her, shielding her from the stones with his own body."
