حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُرَشِيِّ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ
مَنْ تَبِعَ جِنَازَةً فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ؛ الْقِيرَاطُ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ أُحُدٍ " فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: أَبَا هِرٍّ، انْظُرْ مَا تُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ! ! فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ حَتَّى انْطَلَقَ بِهِ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ لَهَا: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنْشُدُكِ بِاللهِ، أَسَمِعْتِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ تَبِعَ جِنَازَةً فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ ؟ " فَقَالَتِ: اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَشْغَلُنِي عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَرْسُ الْوَدِيِّ وَلَا صَفْقٌ بِالْأَسْوَاقِ، إِنِّي إِنَّمَا كُنْتُ أَطْلُبُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَلِمَةً يُعَلِّمُنِيهَا وَأُكْلَةً يُطْعِمُنِيهَا. فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: أَنْتَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كُنْتَ أَلْزَمَنَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَعْلَمَنَا بِحَدِيثِهِ.

✧ Whoever follows a funeral procession and prays over it, for him is a qīrāṭ; if he witnesses its burial, for him are two qīrāṭs; the qīrāṭ is greater than Uḥud.” Ibn ʿUmar said to him: “O Abū Hirr, look at what you narrate from the Messenger of God ﷺ!!” Abū Hurayrah stood up and took him to ʿĀʾishah and said to her: “O Mother of the Believers, I adjure you by God, did you hear the Messenger of God ﷺ say: ‘Whoever follows a funeral procession and prays over it, for him is a qīrāṭ; if he witnesses its burial, for him are two qīrāṭs?’” She said: “By God, yes.” Abū Hurayrah said: “Planting young palm shoots and striking deals in the markets never distracted me from the Messenger of God ﷺ. I only sought from the Messenger of God ﷺ a word he would teach me and a morsel he would feed me.” Ibn ʿUmar said to him: “You, O Abū Hurayrah, were the most constant companion of the Messenger of God ﷺ among us and the most knowledgeable of his ḥadīth.”
