✧ We returned with the Messenger of God ﷺ from al-Hudaybiyyah. They mentioned that they camped on soft ground (meaning sand). He said: 'Who will guard us?' Bilal said: 'I will.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Then you will sleep.' He said: They slept until the sun rose. Some of them woke up: so-and-so and so-and-so, and among them 'Umar. He said: We said: 'Speak (meaning talk).' He said: The Prophet ﷺ woke up and said: 'Do as you used to do.' He said: We did. He said: And he said likewise: 'Do so for whoever sleeps (or forgets).' He said: The she-camel of the Messenger of God ﷺ strayed, and he searched for it. I found its rope caught on a tree. I brought it to the Prophet ﷺ, and he rode it, pleased. When revelation descended upon the Prophet ﷺ, it was hard on him, and we recognized that in him. He said: He withdrew, isolating himself behind us. He said: He began covering his head with his garment, and it was hard on him until we knew that it had been sent down upon him. He came to us and informed us that it had been sent down upon him: 'Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory.'
