✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ, about eighty men from Quraysh, none but Quraysh among them—by God, I have never seen the brightness of men’s faces better than their faces that day. They mentioned women and talked about them, and he talked with them until I wished he would stop. He said: “Then I came to him and he said the tashahhud, then said: ‘Now then, O people of Quraysh, you are the people of this affair as long as you do not disobey God. If you disobey Him, He will send upon you someone who will strip you as this stick is stripped’—for a stick in his hand, then he stripped his stick, and it was white and bare.”
