حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسٌ أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا، وَشِرَارُ النَّاسِ الَّذِينَ تُدْرِكُهُمُ السَّاعَةُ [وَهُمْ ] أَحْيَاءٌ، وَالَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ قُبُورَهُمْ مَسَاجِدَ.

Translation

  3. al-Aʿmash
  4. Ibrāhīm
  5. ʿAbīdah al-Salmānī
  6. ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd

✧ Indeed, some eloquence is magic, and the worst of people are those whom the Hour overtakes while they are still alive, and those who take graves as mosques.
