Musnad Ahmad 4321

Translation

✧ I never missed (or seldom missed) Ibn Mas'ud on a Thursday (Ibn Abi 'Adi said: on Thursday evening) except that I went to him. He said: I never once heard him say for anything: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ said.' When it was one evening, he said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ said' (Ibn Abi 'Adi said: He said: 'I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say'), then he lowered his head. He said: I looked at him while he was standing with the buttons of his shirt undone, his eyes filled with tears, and his veins swollen. He said: 'Or less than that, or more than that, or close to that, or similar to that.'

  يرويه مسلم البطين وهو مسلم بن أبي عمران واختلف عنه فرواه سنة بن مسلم البطين وعبدة بن أبي لبابة وعبد الرحمن المسعودي وأخوه أبو عميس عن مسلم البطين عن عمرو بن ميمون عن عبد الله وتابعهم عمار الدهني أيضا فرواه عن مسلم البطين كذلك وخالفهم عبد الله بن عون فرواه عن مسلم البطين عن إبراهيم التيمي عن أبيه عن عمرو بن ميمون كذلك قال جماعة أصحاب ابن عون إلا بشر بن المفضل فإنه لم يقل عن أبيه ورواه إبراهيم بن مهاجر وإبراهيم بن أبي حفصة عن مسلم البطين عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي عن عبد الله ورواه شريك عن أبي عميس عن مسلم البطين عن أبي عمرو الشيباني عن عبد الله ويشبه أن يكون القول فيه قول ابن عون لأنه زاد في الإسناد رجلين وهو ثقة وزيادته مقبولة
